TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1. Terelj National Park

This morning after checking out of the hotel in Ulaanbaatar, transfer to Terelj National Park. Then transfer to local nomads home, where we will watch and experience and even get involved in one day of Mongolian nomad’s life. The nomad family will greet guests in a traditional way offering Mongolian tea and dairy products. Then we will see and get involved in nomadic daily activities including milking animals, processing milk and preparing dairy products, processing cowhide to make hide lasso and other items for making Mongolian saddles, felt making, and sewing traditional clothes. Traditional lunch will be made and served. In the evening, return back to Terelj Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2. Terelj National Park, Horse riding in Terelj valley

Half-day of horse riding excursion along the most picturesque part of Terelj National Park. On horseback we go around Mergen Uul mountain, one of the highest peaks in the area, visit Turtle Rock, a famous sight in the spectacular Gorkhi River Valley, and Ariyabal meditation Temple overlooking the picturesque Turtle rock valley. Return to Terelj Lodge for lunch and leisure time, enjoying a visit to Ger museum and archery lessons and trials. Overnight in Terelj Lodge.

Day 3. Chinggis Khaan Monument, Tonyukuk memorial complex - Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast at Terelj Lodge, leave the national park to visit Chingiss Khaan Statute, a 40-meter high stainless steel equestrian monument at Tsonjin Boldog side, 54 km east of Ulaanbaatar. The statute complex includes a souvenir shop, two museums, and a conference hall. Visitors can go up the statue using the elevator or the stairs to the head of the horse where they can have a panoramic view of the beautiful landscape. Then on the way to Ulaanbaatar, visit the memorial complex of Tonyukuk the Wise, who served as an advisor to three successive khans of the 8th century Turkic Khaganate, and a place of sacrifice. There is an engraved stone platform, a kurgan stelae with its top part broken, small standing stones, pottery, bricks, and an irrigation system located at the site, surrounded by balbals and tombstones. Then drive to Ulaanbaatar and have lunch. Afternoon at leisure.
